FTP/SFTP connection to web hosting

FTP/SFTP connection to web hosting

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and SFTP (Secure FTP) are ways to transfer files from your computer to the web hosting. We recommend SFTP, because it encrypts the data transfer.

Creating an FTP account

  1. Log in at panel.nordweb.fi
  2. Navigate to Websites → select your site
  3. Open the FTP section
  4. Create a new FTP account and set a password

Connection settings

ServerYour website's domain (e.g. company.fi)
Port21 (FTP) or 22 (SFTP)
ProtocolSFTP (recommended) or FTP
UsernameThe FTP username you created
PasswordYour FTP account's password

FileZilla connection (example)

  1. Download and install FileZilla (a free FTP program)
  2. Open FileZilla and enter the connection details in the top bar
  3. Click Quickconnect
  4. Navigate to the public_html folder on the right side
  5. Drag the files from the left (your computer) to the right (the server)
