Setting up an SSL certificate

An SSL certificate protects the traffic between your website and its visitors by encrypting the data transfer. With all of Nordweb's hosting plans you get a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate.

Automatic SSL

The Enhance control panel installs the SSL certificate automatically when you add a domain to your website. The certificate is also renewed automatically before it expires.

Checking SSL

1. Log in at panel.nordweb.fi
2. Navigate to Websites → select your site
3. Open the Domains section
4. Check that the SSL lock icon is shown next to the domain

HTTPS redirect

Make sure all traffic is directed to the HTTPS version:

1. Open the website settings in the control panel
2. Find the Force HTTPS setting and activate it

Why is SSL important?

• Protects users' data (forms, logins)
• Google favors HTTPS sites in search results
• Browsers display a warning on HTTP sites
• Increases customer trust
